Summary[]

Thinking back to their time in the Vietnam War, Ray tells Caxton that he will never forget what happened that day in the little village in 1969 in South Vietnam. In a flashback, Larkin tells Caxton to back off after he and his U.S. Army soldiers massacred the villagers, justifying their actions by saying that the villagers were Viet Cong sympathizers hiding weapons and that atrocities and killings happen all the time in war. The soldiers agree with Larkin and tell Caxton to stop protecting the young girl. Angered, Caxton agrees that is the reality of war but compares their logic to a bandit, insulting the men as cowards and thieves. Smiling, Larkin derides Caxton for acting like the "Lone Ranger," and Caxton prepares his pistol and affirms that he will protect the child. Consequently, Larkin draws his rifle as Caxton pushes the girl out of the way and shoots Larkin, causing Larkin to order his men to retaliate.

Before Larkin can shoot again, Ray shoots and kills him, surprising the rogue men and Caxton. Back in the present, Caxton solemnly asks Ray why he helped him that day. Admitting that he kept quiet and looked away from the massacre, Ray recalls that he saw Larkin looting some of the houses and found the young girl, gleefully bringing the girl to the soldiers and joking that Ray could rape the girl first. Also recalling that he felt sick by Larkin's comment, Ray looked into the scared girl's eyes and actually thought that he and Larkin probably would have raped the girl had Caxton not intervened. Caxton tells Ray that he has nothing to be ashamed of, but Ray replies that Caxton was the one person, not himself, who stopped him from doing something horrible. Telling Shane that he is a genuine man, Ray asks him if he remembers what he told him as Caxton carried the girl onto the helicopter, and Caxton had asked him if they would ever be free of war.

In the past, Ray remarked that people would still fight wars even after judgment day, with Caxton dishearteningly agreeing but proclaiming that he would always act good and protect the innocent in an immoral wasteland no matter what orders he was given. He then told the young Ray that they could not love the world if they looked away when injustices occurred. In the present, Ray states that Caxton inspired him that day and commends him for helping the young boy Garcia despite the loss of time they suffered during their mission. In daytime at the beach house, Fabiola tells Garcia that a limousine will take them to Pattaya and they have a flight arranged. As she walks next to him as he stands by he pool, Garcia comments on how nice it would be to swim in the pool, falling backwards into the water to Fabiola's surprise. As he enjoys the water and happily urges Fabiola to enter the water, she reminds him that they have to leave, but he grabs her arm into the pool, confusing her. He tells her that it is great to swim with their clothes on especially on such a nice day.
