Summary[]

Dutch sends Rock and Revy on errands in Roanapur, but Revy is not happy about their partnership. Her resentment may lessen after Rock calms a potentially volatile situation with an arms dealer.

Plot[]

In the middle of the ocean, at nighttime, White Heather stands still in the aftermath of the massacre. Throughout the ship, various corpses are scattered throughout in addition to bloody footprints. Later, in daytime in Roanapur, Rock drives Benny's car across the land bridge and tries to lighten the mood by telling Revy a couple of jokes. Already knowing the punchlines, Revy tells him to be quiet, and she yells in frustration about running errands with him, wishing death upon Dutch for pairing them up. Earlier, at the Lagoon Company office, Rock is eating pizza when he is surprised to learn that Dutch orders him to take Revy with him for running errands in town. Dutch clarifies that he has to help Benny do repairs on the boat. Rock is hesitant to take Revy with him, but Dutch responds that any problem between him and her is something that he must solve on his own. Before the ex-salaryman leaves, Dutch advises him to first visit Rowan "Jackpot" Pigeons on Rachada Street.

At Jackpot Pigeons, the two pirates are greeted by a delighted Rowan, who laughs and believes that Rebecca has returned to work as a dancer for the S&M show. Annoyed, Revy replies that she only came by because of her job, adding that she does not want to tie up others or be tied up. She informs him that the 1,500 bottles of liquor he ordered are in warehouse five of the harbor bureau. Looking at the bill, Rowan jokes that he cannot live with the increased taxes. He then asks who Rock is, noting his awkward demeanor. Telling him that he is a new recruit for the Lagoon Company, Revy jokes that they took him in since he had nowhere else to go. Pitying Rock, Rowan suggests coming to him any time if he needs anything. Afterward, the two pirates visit Balalaika at her Bougainvillea Trade Company office. As she skims through pornographic tapes, the bored Balalaika wonders why they did not tell her about the late shipment over the phone. Revy answers that it was Dutch's order, and Balalaika laments that she did not get a part-time to sift through the fifteen remaining tapes. The Russian woman admits that she has to go to a meeting later to discuss unauthorized drug sales by an unknown party, mentioning that she will repay the pirates if they have any information on the matter.

As they travel again, Revy once more curses their job, and the nervous Rock assures her that they have one more job, noting that they have to pick up firearms from Sister P.W. Deegan of the Rip-Off Church. In the early evening, Revy knocks on the chapel door and angrily asks for Sister Yolanda. Finding them, Eda orders them to come with her to the drawing room instead. The nun also orders other clergy members to move the clean items to the shed, and she guides the two pirates. In the drawing room, Yolanda admits she is surprised that Dutch sent them on an errand. Looking at the list of guns, Yolanda tells Revy about the Eastern European firearms shipped by way of Cambodia, but she notes that she is still waiting for the ARWEN 37 launcher. Irritated, Revy reminds the elderly nun that she specifically bought weapons from them because they needed them for a job. Yolanda specifies that she does have the weapon but is saving it for another customer since they needed it immediately, attempting to lay out her dilemma. Recalling that Lagoon Company is a good client, she offers to give the weapon to the pirates instead on condition of a better deal or discount on their services.

Glaring at Yolanda, Revy warns her not to play around, prompting Yolanda to warn her in turn not to make idle threats. Angered by her comment, Revy pulls out her gun, causing Eda to pull out her Glock 17L in turn, resulting in a standoff. Yolanda expresses her strictness in her offer. Wanting to deescalate the situation, Rock drinks the tea offered to him and guesses that the tea is W&M, surprising Yolanda. Relating to the tea company's promise of good tea, he relates the good service to that of any company. Yolanda asks what he is getting at since she believes firearms are not comparable to tea, so Rock sternly claims that he is talking about the drugs. Recalling that Hotel Moscow and other mafias are looking for the culprits of recent unauthorized drug shipments, Rock states that the mafias have looked everywhere except a place they would not expect to find any: the church grounds. He asks Eda why she ordered the men to put the big bags of sheets in the shed since clean items are normally reserved for the living quarters. Calmly denying the accusation, Yolanda says that he cannot make statements based on conjecture. Admitting that it is merely a hypothesis, Rock notes that the number of weapons leaving and entering the church does not add up. Finishing his point, Rock mentions that while Lagoon Company is on good terms with Hotel Moscow, they do not necessarily work together.

Smiling, the amused Yolanda orders Eda to add the ARWEN to the list, so the two women sheath their pistols. Hearing the church bell, she politely asks the two pirates to leave since it is almost time for mass. As Rock leaves, she tells him to come by sometime, making him smile. In contrast, Revy and Eda exchange insults, but Yolanda recommends that she emulate Rock's behavior since waving one's gun around does not solve anything. Scoffing at her, Revy insults the old woman and leaves the chapel. At the marketplace, Rock brings meals for himself and Revy, suggesting that she eat the dish before it gets cold. Revy retorts that she does not want to eat and would rather drive back home, but Rock reminds her that he would be left behind if she left alone. Smoking a cigarette, she suggests that Rock return to Japan, causing him to nonchalantly remind her that she brought him to Roanapur in the first place. Hearing her take back the idea, Rock rhetorically asks her who it was that prevented the chapel from turning into a bloodbath. Revy warns him to watch what he says, and she becomes more irate upon hearing Rock respond that she has been unfriendly to him ever since their talk in the submarine. When Revy reminds him that he was not supposed to bring that up again, Rock firmly retorts that he will not apologize anymore.

Revy warns him to watch his mouth, but Rock stands up and loudly repeats his decision. Shocked at his unapologetic attitude, Revy pulls out her pistol, scaring away the surrounding customers and residents. Pointing her barrel at his head, she asks him what he wants written on his tombstone, to which he answers, "There is no cure for a fool with a gun." Sarcastically bidding him goodbye, she shoots once, but Rock moves the barrel out of the way, only grazing his head. Pushing her pistol away, Rock grabs her by the shirt and affirms that his name is Rock. He yells that he thought he was done kissing up to people until he accompanied her. He adds that she keeps acting like a badass but is very greedy and will not confront her problems. Revy tosses a cup of chopsticks to the ground and furiously tells Rock that he has no idea about the hell which she has endured throughout her life, insulting Rock as a white-collar guy. Agreeing and calming down, Rock replies that he does not know what she went through. Nonetheless, he reminds her that she cannot judge him since she does not know anything about him either beyond being white-collar, reasoning that everyone in life has to suffer in some way regardless of background.

When he says that she does not understand that, Revy shouts back that their life is not a happy one, retorting that she is not Robin Hood. Rock then asks why she does not become Robin Hood instead of feeling sorry for herself, causing Revy to stutter and walk backwards, nervously warning that she will kill him. Rock calls her bluff her and claims that she would only be chasing her tail like a dog if she killed him. Angered, saddened, and confused, Revy punches him in the face, but Rock endures the punch, shocking her. Grabbing her fist, Rock reminds her that the reason that he was in Roanapur was because of her, remarking that she saved him from his cyclic business life and from being killed after being tossed aside by his bosses. Getting to his point of contention, he admits that he hates to see his rescuer act like the very same people who treated him like dirt back in Japan. Pushing herself away and calming down, Revy mutters that she does not know what he is talking about, then telling Rock that he would get killed for his stupidity. Rock replied that they were both idiots, causing both of them to back-and-forth insult each other.

At that point, several armed Roanapur City Police officers warn them to freeze. Annoyed but not surprised that Revy is responsible for the public disturbance, Chief Watsap reprimands her for shooting off her gun without care for her surroundings because he has to answer the calls. Revy reminds him that the Lagoon Company pays him stipends to leave them alone, but Watsap clarifies that he does not care what she does, but she must keep her actions out of sight to avoid trouble so that he can play his golf games. Declaring that there is paperwork to fill out, he orders them to come to the station. At sunset, Dutch and Benny drink beer and relax on their boat's stern after a day of repairs. Back at the market, Revy warns Watsap not to take their car, but the chief replies that he does not want their shoddy car. In the backseat of the police car, Rock smokes a cigarette when Revy tells him that she has one more question before their problem is settled. She asks him what side he wants to be on, but the ex-salaryman only answers that he is where he is standing. Subsequently, Revy asks for a light, but the confused Rock states that the cops have the cigarette lighter. Pointing to her cigarette, she elaborates that he has one in his mouth, and so Rock lights her cigarette with his own. Relaxed and looking into each other's eyes, the two pirates agree that it has been a messed up day.
